Artist's Description
Abandoned by the Countess, left with no master, in a world of increasing darkness. The battle has taken its toll: on the lonesome trek to nowhere and everywhere, the wound from the sword still aches with every step. Self-inflicted for honor; it did not end the journey, it brought the trek forth. Inner torment now an externality. The romance of tradition a quiet torture, the colonization of the soul...accepted in apathy, unchallenged in spirit. Except for the ronin: isolated not by insane mind but insane world. Stirring the warrior's resolve in the distant hope of contentment; a place and time of happiness, solemn or otherwise. Survival should not strip us of our humanity, no matter how harsh the landscape.
